If you’re traveling with your kids, chances are at some point they’re going to say they’re bored. Whether you’re in the car, on the plane or in a hotel room, it’s hard to keep them engaged at all times, which all children crave on some level or another. Beyond handing them your smart phone or a television remote, keeping them entertained can be a challenge and they may just miss the whole point of the trip.
Instead of relying on electronic devices to keep them happy, why not give them a book where they can journal their vacation experience? The results will be as much a keepsake as it is something to do during the inevitable downtime that comes with traveling.
When it comes to keeping a vacation diary or journal, there are a couple options you can choose from. For older kids, handing them a blank journal and a small kit with a pen, tape or glue stick might be enough. Then they can create their own scrapbook-type diary of the trip as they go. The other option is a book, like Kid’s Trip Diary: Kids! Write About Your Own Adventures and Experiences! by Loris Bree,
This book is an interactive writing experience where your child can answer questions, journal little events that happen during the trip and complete interesting activities that help them appreciate and experience the vacation on different level. Sometimes kids just need prompts to see an event or experience in a different way.
Giving your kids chances to write and express themselves is always important and can be a valuable addition to their vacation experiences.
